Do you really need a photographer for your event?
Some context
So you’ve planned your event and are finalizing this and that. But you realize that you have not yet booked a photographer. You consider the number of people that will show up with smartphones then start to ask yourself if you really really really need to book a photographer.
Let’s be clear, I’m a photographer. So I’ll always say yes. But let’s look into this objectively.

You should hire a photographer if:
You want professional-quality images for marketing, PR, social media, or future promotions. Don’t try to wing it. Let the pros handle it.
The event is a milestone (e.g., weddings, anniversaries, launches, graduations, corporate celebrations). Milestones are usually a one of a kind. You may not get a second chance to get memorable photographs.
You want your guests to be present without worrying about taking photos.
You’re building a brand and need content for your website, portfolio, or sponsors. Certain types of images may make or break a brand. Again, let a professional help you to position your brand properly with the right set of images.
You might not need a photographer if:
The event is small and informal, like a private dinner or casual meetup.
Your budget is low.
Visual documentation isn’t a priority.
I’ll leave you with this. Whatever you decide, be intentional about it. If you want professional images, get a professional. You wouldn’t ask an electrician to come sort out your plumbing issue now would you?
I hope this helps. Bless.
